Presentation Day

With all of the presentations today, most everything went right. Everyone did a good job with their own presentations. All  of them were very informative for those who may not have known anything about the particular subject matter. Everyone walked away learning something new.
There were very few things that went wrong with the presentations. The only real hiccups were just technical things, nothing speaker related. Whether something did not want to display or a link didn't work,everything else went off without a hitch.
When comparing my presentation to others, it was not as long or in-depth as some. There are a few things that could be done to enhance this project. One of the things is just limitation of resources.With Vokis this meant limited options available for customization. I know this is nobody's fault, it is just the way the website is designed, but if there is maybe a completely free alternative that can be used in the future. Honestly, I am just nitpicking here. I thought everything went well, we covered the things to be used in the presentation so that's not a problem. There are always ways to improve or enhance something, I just cannot think of anything major for this one. It was fun using all of these applications.

Job Fair Observations

The technology that was being utilized at today's job fair was limited and basic. There was a wedding dj table set up that showed an idea of the technology that is used. Others offered email sign ups.

The technology that was utilized was effective. Some of the representatives were offering email sign ups for those interested in more information. Using it this way allowed the reps to engage those interested and pique their interest in that particular place of business. Thus if a person then signed up via email, the company could send out moure detailed information or anything else pertaining to them that the person liked.

The digital technology that could have been used is tricky to nail down. With the businesses that were here, some did not have any need for technology. The dj had a setup of the technology that he uses.

Some technology that could have been used could have been maybe a video of their services. Another one could have been a interactive tour of their facilities. The children's dentist office could have benefitted the most from some tour option. They could show what their offices looked like.

Photosynth-sesis (see what I did there?)

I learned how to create a photosynth. This is a process that involves taking pictures while rotating the camera to get a "in a cylinder" feel. Depending on what you are wanting to use this for, it can be a very useful tool. I learned that this process is not as hard or complicated as it first seems.

These are my 3 maps. The first one is to get to Quicken Loans Arena. We had Cavs season tickets for several years and made a lot of trips there. It was know as Gund Arena back then.
The second is for the Akron Zoo. Not too far from us, but we have memberships so we do make a lot of trips.
The third is for a church camp that the boys attend every year. My wife and I have also volunteered in the kitchen there once or twice.
A mapping tool can affect a business by allowing easier access for customers to locate them. By using a mapping tool, a business can show their location on a map and give someone the ability to enter their address and get detailed directions.

Final Project

For my final project topic, I am choosing to show how Lowe's is being socially responsible as a corporation. I plan on showing and discussing how Lowe's as a company continues to help their surrounding communities through recycling and habitat for humanity-type projects. Also, I will touch upon how they are making attempts to go green. I chose this route since I currently work there and have first hand experience with these practices.

If you are in the food industry, you can photoshare some of your past works. Bakers could use this the most by showing off their many cake designs. Other options could be to show off what your business looks like on the inside. It can be used as a sort of mini tour to potential visitors, employees, or clients.
